Jaelynn followed close behind Ivy, the sound of boots on steel echoing through the hall. ‘We haven’t heard from the rest of the crew in hours, do you think everything’s okay?’ she asked
‘of course everything’s fine, we’re a month from heading home and we have more than enough food and maintenance materials to last us’
‘Nothing could go wrong at this point’ she said with a confidence Jaelynn envied.
They each scanned their ID badges, and the door slid open to reveal an empty kitchen and dining room. ‘it’s 6:15, they should be here for dinner by now, I really think something’s wrong.’ said Jaelynn.
‘I’m sure it’s fine, Let’s check their rooms’ Ivy assured.
As they approached Elliot's door a look crossed Ivy’s face, and in Jaelynn’s experience this look indicated problems. ‘What do you see?’ she asked.
‘The door is vacuum locked, that should only ever be done in an emergency.’
‘You know we’ve been having trouble with the system for the last two weeks, since we lost contact with Ceta’
‘you’re right, probably just a glitch'
Ivy bangs her fist on the metal door, then buzzes the intercom. ‘Hey Elliot, are you in there?’
No response. She enters the override code and the door makes a hissing sound before opening to reveal darkness.
‘Lights on’ Ivy orders to the onboard system.
And here they find the first body.
